The 0pportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Law Costs Draftsman to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring our clients’ costs are meticulously prepared and managed. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of legal procedures and have experience in one or more legal departments. This role offers the potential for professional growth, including support in becoming accredited with the Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL).

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate bills of costs.
• Conduct thorough negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.
• Engage in advocacy when necessary to support clients’ cases.
• Manage a diverse caseload, including personal injury, road traffic accidents (RTA), high-value and complex claims (HDR), and clinical negligence claims (depending on experience).
• Liaise effectively with in-house teams or external suppliers of costs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and procedural standards.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working either in-house or for an external supplier of costs.
• Basic knowledge of legal procedures.
• Experience in one or more legal departments.
• Strong ability to prepare bills of costs.
• Preferred: Experience in negotiations.
• Preferred: Advocacy experience
